MW4

The MW4 was the first of many designs by Mike Whittaker to use a strong but quite minimal structure for the aircraft. Based on HT30F aluminium tubes, the MW4 is distinguished by its articulated tailplane. The assembly is all one piece and moves as a whole rather than the rudder moving separately from the elevators.

This photograph shows Mike flying the only example of the type built. Despite its unique status, it is flown at the MW Club fly-in at Cheddah each year.
